A State of Bliss: Your Why
A little more than 7 years
ago, I faced a personal tragedy. I woke up one morning on a different journey
in life when, without warning, my wife passed away. Our three children ranged
between 8 years old and one just turned 13. Most people, at some point in their
life, ask themselves, “Why am I here? What is my purpose for being?” For me, I
spent a lot of time pondering those questions.
I turned to a professional
to help me and my kids process what had happened. Early into this journey, I
was introduced to a spiritual healer. A spiritual healer is a person who allows
himself or herself to be used as a channel for the flow of healing light and
energy. All healing comes from God, plain and simple, and a spiritual healer
acts as a channel for this healing energy. One of the things I uncovered is
that I want to reach a state of bliss in my lifetime -- to find that place
where happiness and joy rule my thoughts, words, and actions.
Sounds great, right!? For
those of you on a similar path, I’m sure you know the challenge. I start my day
with prayer, asking God to help me find Him in everyone and to love everyone.
Some days I get there and some days I don’t. Sometimes I can string consecutive
days together. Sometimes I can’t. My journey continues one day at a time. Imagine
a world if we all had this goal!
While I much prefer the
spiritual path that I am on, why did it have to take a personal tragedy to get
there? I was heads down running companies with my work-life balance out of
whack. If your work-life balance needs some tuning or an overhaul, I urge you
to make some quiet time as we enter this holiday season and ask yourself
? What legacy
do you want to leave?
